Russia UNLEASHES Counter-Resolution to Sabotage Trump’s Gaza Plan — Moscow Challenges U.S. Push for Peace & Stability

Russia counters U.S. Gaza resolution with a rival draft at the UN, threatening Trump’s stabilization plan and a fragile ceasefire.

Russia has thrown a diplomatic wrench into U.S. efforts to secure a lasting peace in Gaza, submitting a competing draft resolution to the UN Security Council in a direct challenge to President Donald Trump’s ambitious Gaza stabilization plan, Reuters reported Thursday.

Washington is currently pushing for international approval of a transformative two-year framework that would create a transitional governance body—the “Board of Peace”—and deploy a multinational stabilization force to prevent Hamas’ return to power and restore order in Gaza. The U.S. draft, circulated last week, has already gained significant backing across the Middle East.

But Moscow abruptly moved to undermine that momentum, sending Council members what it called a “balanced, acceptable” counter-proposal. Russia’s version borrows elements from the U.S. text but deliberately deletes the core of Trump’s plan: the new transitional administration meant to steer Gaza toward reconstruction and security.

Instead, Russia’s document merely asks the UN Secretary-General to outline “options” for a stabilization force, avoiding any endorsement of a governance model that would push Hamas out of strategic control.

U.S. officials warned sharply that Moscow’s interference risks destabilizing an already fragile ceasefire achieved with great difficulty.
A spokesperson for the American mission stated:

“This is the worst possible moment for political games. A delay now has real, dangerous consequences for Palestinians in Gaza.”

“The ceasefire is fragile. The Council must unite behind the U.S. resolution to secure the peace that is desperately needed.”

The clash underscores a growing geopolitical contest: America pushing for a structured, enforceable peace that protects Israelis and civilians in Gaza—while Russia positions itself as a spoiler, seeking influence at the expense of stability.
