Trump Unveils Global Gaza Board as World Leaders Join Push to Prevent Hamas’ Return to Power

US-led Gaza oversight board forms while Israel demands guarantees Hamas never resurges under foreign management.

In a sweeping declaration that reshapes Gaza’s political future, US President Donald Trump announced Tuesday night that the newly created Board of Peace — the international body assigned to govern and stabilize Gaza through 2027 — will be composed of the leaders of many of the world’s most powerful nations.

Speaking during a state dinner honoring Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the White House, Trump hinted that the board will become a global consortium. Turning directly to the Crown Prince, he said:

“I hope your highness will be on the board. Everybody wants to be on the board — it’ll end up being the heads of every major country.”

The announcement came just 24 hours after the UN Security Council approved a resolution handing the US-led Board of Peace broad authority to manage Gaza for the next two years — a cornerstone of Trump’s 20-point Gaza peace plan, designed to prevent Hamas from re-arming, re-organizing, or ever reclaiming power.

Trump thanked the Crown Prince for his behind-the-scenes role in achieving last month’s ceasefire — though Israel maintains that any calm in Gaza is temporary unless the Strip is fully demilitarized and terror networks are permanently dismantled.

While it looks a little bit messy… Gaza is getting very close to being perfected,” Trump said, signaling confidence that the newly established board will reshape the region’s future.

He also praised the ongoing hostage-return process but misstated the numbers, claiming Hamas still holds two bodies when the correct figure is three — a reminder of the painful human cost still unresolved.

A lot of work has been done by Hamas,” Trump said, in a remark that raised eyebrows given Hamas’ decades-long record of brutality and deception. However, the broader message was clear: international players believe Hamas is cornered and losing its grip, and the Board of Peace is intended to cement that reality.

The White House later confirmed that Trump and the Saudi Crown Prince finalized far-reaching defense and economic agreements, deepening US-Saudi cooperation at a moment when the Middle East is undergoing radical geopolitical realignment.

For Israel, the question remains:
Will global oversight finally prevent Gaza from becoming Hamas-controlled territory ever again — or will foreign management create new risks?

The next two years will determine the answer.
