Netanyahu Honors Fallen Mayor, Then Vows Relentless Independent Strikes Against Hamas and Hezbollah Threats

Israel mourns a leader yet stands firm, crushing Hamas violations and rejecting Arab-driven pressure fantasies.

During Sunday’s Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his ministers opened with a solemn moment of silence for Netanya Mayor Miriam Feirberg-Ikar, who passed away on Friday. Netanyahu praised her as “a groundbreaking leader” whose nearly 30 years of service were marked by unwavering devotion, innovation, and resilience—even when she faced what he called an unjust legal assault from which she was ultimately vindicated.

The Prime Minister described her as a public servant entirely consumed by her mission:
“Every conversation with her was about Netanya—what could be done for the city, how to build it, strengthen it, improve it.”
He then requested the ministers join him in standing to honor her memory.

After the tribute, Netanyahu shifted to pressing national security issues, asserting that Israel continues to hit terrorist factions on all fronts, north and south.
He reported that the IDF struck targets in Lebanon over the weekend to ensure Hezbollah cannot rebuild its strike capacity. In Gaza, he emphasized that Hamas has violated the ceasefire repeatedly, and Israel has responded decisively.

He detailed multiple infiltration attempts beyond the yellow line:
All thwarted—terrorists killed, others captured, including deep inside Rafah’s tunnel network.

Addressing circulating rumors, Netanyahu dismissed claims that Israel needs foreign approval before acting militarily:
“A total lie.”

He clarified unequivocally:

  • Immediate threat-response actions are executed automatically by the IDF.
  • Offensive responses are coordinated through the Defense Minister and brought to the Prime Minister.
  • Decisions are made independently, without foreign actors influencing or authorizing Israel’s actions.

Netanyahu concluded with a firm assertion of sovereignty:
“Israel is responsible for its own security—always.”
