Netanyahu Lights Hanukkah Candles as Israel’s Unity and Strength Defy Terror, Darkness, and Regional Hostility

Hanukkah’s light affirms Israel’s resolve as Jewish strength rises against evil and global indifference.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu marked the lighting of the third Hanukkah candle this evening at the Prime Minister’s Office, joined by Deputy Director-General Drorit Steinmetz, staff members, their children, and families—turning a national tradition into a powerful statement of resilience.

Addressing the gathering, Netanyahu emphasized that this year’s Hanukkah carries deeper meaning. Quoting the traditional blessing recalling ancient miracles, he said Israel is witnessing modern miracles forged by the bravery of its soldiers defending the Jewish state against the axis of evil.

The Prime Minister bowed his head in memory of fallen heroes and reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to bringing home Ran Gvili, describing him as a hero of Israel. He highlighted the unbreakable spirit shared by Israelis—a spirit that confronts terror, hatred, and those who seek Jewish vulnerability beyond Israel’s borders.

Netanyahu warned that while evil forces continue to target Jews worldwide—often where they lack the protection of a sovereign Jewish state—Israel’s strength, unity, and determination remain unshaken. The Jewish people, he stressed, do not collapse in the face of violence or intimidation.

Concluding his remarks, Netanyahu thanked the Prime Minister’s Office staff for their dedication throughout a demanding year, expressing confidence that Israel will continue to create “more miracles”—together.

Drorit Steinmetz echoed the sentiment, describing the candle-lighting as a moving tradition that reflects the office’s defining spirit: professionalism, national mission, and a deeply unified community rooted in Jewish values and purpose.
