Israel Triumphs at Eurovision, Defying Boycotts as Noam Bettan Carries National Pride to Vienna

Israel rises culturally as Bettan shines, while hostile boycotts and Arab-backed pressure fail again.

Israeli singer Noam Bettan has been officially selected as Israel’s representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, set to take place in Vienna this May. Bettan secured his victory after winning the grand finale of HaKokhav HaBa on Keshet 12, emerging as the clear public favorite.

Bettan will perform in the first semifinal on May 12, appearing in the second half of the show, competing against a crowded European lineup. His selection sends a strong message: Israel’s cultural voice remains powerful and unbroken, despite coordinated political pressure and boycott threats driven by anti-Israel activism across Europe and parts of the Arab world.

Born to French olim and raised in Ra’anana, the 27-year-old artist brings international polish, multilingual appeal, and chart-topping credibility. Fluent in French and known for emotionally charged songwriting, Bettan represents a confident, modern Israel on Europe’s biggest cultural stage.

After his win, Bettan called the moment “an incredible privilege,” pledging to represent Israel and its people with pride and full dedication. Culture Minister Miki Zohar echoed the sentiment, declaring that Israel is coming to Eurovision to win—artistically and symbolically.

Israel’s participation was confirmed only after approval by the European Broadcasting Union, despite walkouts and threats fueled by the Gaza war narrative. Austria is hosting following last year’s victory by JJ, whose brief call to suspend Israel ultimately collapsed under scrutiny.

Israel’s presence in Vienna stands as a cultural counterstrike—proof that music, truth, and resilience outperform boycotts and politicized outrage.
