Trump boasts secret U.S. dominance weapon, paralyzing enemies while warning cartels anywhere face relentless American strikes.
US President Donald Trump said the United States used a classified weapon nicknamed “The Discombobulator” to disable Venezuelan defenses during the operation that led to the capture of Nicolas Maduro, while also threatening expanded military action against drug cartels across the Americas.
Speaking in an interview with the New York Post, Trump hinted the system involved advanced pulsed-energy capabilities but refused to provide details. According to the president, Venezuelan forces attempted to launch Russian- and Chinese-supplied rockets, only to find their systems completely nonfunctional.
“They pressed buttons and nothing worked,” Trump said, describing how US forces entered without resistance. He added that the operation effectively shut down much of Caracas’ infrastructure, including power systems, though he declined to explain how.
Trump also warned that Washington’s campaign against narcotics trafficking would intensify. Recent US strikes on suspected drug-smuggling vessels in the Pacific marked the first such action since Maduro’s capture and signaled a readiness to extend operations onto land. Asked whether strikes could occur in Mexico or Central America, Trump replied that targets could be “anywhere.”
The president said US forces have seized multiple Venezuelan-linked oil tankers and removed their cargo, stressing that Caracas has been stripped of critical revenue.
During the interview, Trump joked about where to display a Nobel Peace Prize given to him by Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, which currently rests in the Oval Office.
Trump also referenced ongoing Arctic security discussions with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, suggesting future arrangements could secure US control over land hosting American bases. Leaders in Denmark and Greenland have publicly rejected any compromise on sovereignty.
In lighter remarks, Trump dismissed the upcoming Super Bowl halftime lineup, criticizing performances by Bad Bunny and Green Day, and confirmed he would not attend the game.
