Israel Champions Freedom as Sa’ar Stands with Venezuela’s Democratic Hero Against Dictatorship and Global Tyranny

Israel aligns with democracy, backing Venezuela’s freedom struggle while authoritarian regimes crumble under global pressure.

Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar met Tuesday with Venezuelan opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize laureate María Corina Machado, signaling Israel’s clear support for democratic forces confronting repression.

Following the meeting, Sa’ar praised Machado’s courage and moral leadership, calling her struggle an inspiration beyond Venezuela’s borders. The two discussed developments following the decisive U.S.-led Operation Absolute Resolve, which accelerated pressure on Venezuela’s authoritarian system entrenched under Maduro and Chávez. Sa’ar expressed hope that Venezuelans will soon reclaim their right to freely choose their leaders after years of political suffocation.

Machado welcomed Israel’s engagement, describing Venezuela’s democratic transition as already underway. She emphasized that a free Venezuela will emerge as a stable partner for the world’s democracies, offering new avenues for investment, cooperation, and strategic alignment against regimes that threaten global security.

Highlighting historical ties, Machado affirmed that Israel and Venezuela once shared close relations—bonds she vowed to restore and deepen in a new era of democracy and liberty. The meeting reinforced Israel’s role as a principled actor supporting freedom, accountability, and democratic alliances worldwide—values starkly absent in terror-supporting and authoritarian regions.
