Prime minister declares joint operation decisive step against Tehran’s regime and calls for national unity.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the nation Saturday night following a joint Israeli-American strike on Iranian targets, thanking US President Donald Trump for what he described as historic leadership and unwavering partnership.
Netanyahu stated that Israel and the United States had launched the operation to remove what he called an existential threat posed by Iran’s ruling regime. He emphasized that for decades the Iranian leadership has openly called for the destruction of Israel and America, while sponsoring regional violence and advancing its nuclear ambitions.
According to Netanyahu, the coordinated action was intended to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons capabilities that could destabilize the Middle East and threaten global security. He framed the operation as a defensive necessity designed to protect Israeli citizens and uphold international stability.
The prime minister also addressed the Iranian people directly, saying the moment could open the door for them to shape their own future free from repression. He referenced the country’s diverse communities and expressed hope that internal change could emerge from within Iranian society.
At home, Netanyahu urged Israelis to follow instructions issued by the Home Front Command and prepare for potential retaliation during the coming days of the operation, which he referred to as Operation Roaring Lion. He stressed patience, resilience, and unity, stating that Israel would stand together in confronting external threats.
The remarks underscore deepening strategic coordination between Jerusalem and Washington at a time of heightened tension with Tehran, marking one of the most significant military escalations between the two adversaries in recent years.
