President demands stronger terms as Tehran prepares modifications and Washington refuses to rush weak agreement”
US President Donald Trump pushed back against CNN on Sunday night, accusing the network of falsely portraying his administration’s negotiations with Iran.
Writing on Truth Social, Trump rejected claims that the proposed memorandum of understanding does not properly address Iran’s nuclear program. He said the text clearly states that Iran will not be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon and includes detailed provisions covering other nuclear issues.
Trump said most of the agreement focuses on nuclear matters, directly contradicting reports suggesting the framework is too vague or weak on Tehran’s atomic capabilities.
His comments came as Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported that Tehran is preparing to submit new modifications to the draft agreement following Trump’s demand for stricter language. Axios reported that Trump requested several amendments during a Situation Room meeting, especially regarding Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile and enrichment limits.
The proposed framework reportedly creates a 60-day window for negotiations over nuclear commitments and sanctions relief, with early talks focused on how to dispose of Iran’s enriched uranium and restrict future enrichment.
Trump also told Lara Trump on Fox News that he is in no hurry to sign a deal, stressing that the central guarantee must be that Iran never acquires nuclear weapons.
The president’s message remains firm: Iran wants a deal, but Washington will not accept cosmetic promises. Any agreement must block Tehran’s nuclear path, reopen Hormuz safely and protect Israel and America’s allies from future Iranian aggression.
