Secret US-Iran Deal Sparks Alarm: Khamenei Camp Signals Approval as Tehran Eyes Sanctions Relief and Regional Ceasefire

Iran’s leadership reportedly backs a vague US memorandum offering sanctions relief, oil exports and a sweeping regional ceasefire framework.

Iran’s ruling circle has reportedly given quiet approval to a controversial memorandum of understanding with the United States, raising fresh alarm across Israel and the region over what critics see as a dangerous diplomatic lifeline to Tehran.

American officials told CNN that Mojtaba Khamenei has granted “tacit approval” to the emerging agreement. Internal discussions are reportedly underway over whether a statement will be issued before the expected signing ceremony on Friday.

According to CNN, the text of the agreement has been deliberately kept vague to manage internal tensions inside Iran. Officials warned that publicly releasing the full wording could complicate efforts to secure political backing from Tehran.

On Tuesday, Saudi-owned Al Arabiya published what it claimed was the 14-point memorandum between Washington and Iran. The document reportedly offers major economic concessions to Tehran, including sanctions waivers, permission to export crude oil and petrochemical products, and steps to restore maritime trade.

The alleged agreement also states that, upon signing, there will be an “immediate and permanent end to the war on all fronts, including in Lebanon,” with both sides committing to halt military actions and threats.

For Israel, the reported deal raises urgent strategic questions. Any arrangement that strengthens Iran economically while leaving its terror networks intact risks empowering the same regime that arms Hezbollah, backs regional militias and continues to threaten Israel’s security.
