Graham Demands Congress Approve Any Iran Deal As Trump Delays Massive Strike For Diplomacy

Senator backs Trump’s hard line while warning Tehran must surrender nuclear and terror ambitions.

Senator Lindsey Graham reiterated that any agreement between the United States and Iran must be submitted to Congress for approval, warning that Tehran cannot be trusted with another weak nuclear arrangement.

Graham said diplomacy would be a major achievement only if it fully protects American national security and prevents Iran from threatening Israel, US allies, and global shipping. He outlined strict conditions for any deal, including zero uranium enrichment, American control of Iran’s highly enriched uranium, full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, an end to Iran’s long-range ballistic missile program, no nuclear weapons development, and the termination of support for terrorist proxies across the region.

The South Carolina senator expressed deep skepticism that Iran would accept terms strong enough to make any new agreement meaningfully different from the failed JCPOA. He warned that Tehran’s continued aggression and refusal to negotiate in good faith may require a short but forceful American response to reset the conflict.

Graham’s comments came as President Donald Trump revealed that the United States had been preparing a major strike against Iran, but postponed it after serious diplomatic discussions and requests from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, and others for a brief delay.

Trump said the attack would have been very large, but stressed that America cannot allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon. He also confirmed that Israel and regional partners were informed of the decision to delay military action while talks continue.
