Hamas Complains To Mediators After Israel Eliminates Commander, While Gaza Talks Remain Delayed

Terror group seeks pressure on Israel as Jerusalem continues targeting Hamas leaders behind October 7 massacre”

A senior Hamas official told Asharq Al-Awsat that the terror group has sent messages to mediating countries accusing Israel of violating the ceasefire agreement.

The official claimed Hamas remains committed to negotiations and to efforts aimed at reaching a breakthrough in Gaza talks, but said Israel’s elimination of Hamas military wing commander Izz ad-Din Haddad disrupted the process.

Hamas called on mediators to pressure Israel to stop what it described as daily ceasefire violations. The group said it hopes consultations with mediators will help shape a path forward once talks resume after Eid al-Adha.

A Hamas leadership delegation is also expected to visit Cairo in the coming days at the invitation of Egyptian authorities.

The complaint comes as Israel continues pursuing senior Hamas figures responsible for the October 7 massacre and the ongoing terror threat from Gaza. For Jerusalem, Hamas’s appeals to mediators cannot erase the reality that its commanders remain legitimate targets until the terror infrastructure is dismantled and Israeli security is restored.
