Tehran pressures Jews to erase Jewish symbolism while supporting Gaza extremists and demonizing Israel globally.
Iran’s lone Jewish representative in parliament, Dr. Homayoun Sameyah, has once again bowed to the demands of the Islamist regime—this time by removing blue-and-white symbols from messages he sends the Jewish community, after complaints that the colors “resembled the Israeli flag.”
Sameyah replaced the harmless blue-and-white circles with the red, green, and white of the Iranian flag, an act widely seen as yet another forced gesture of loyalty that highlights the suffocating pressure placed on Iran’s Jewish minority. Under Iran’s oppressive theocracy, even the slightest visual hint of Jewish identity is treated as “Zionist,” while Palestinian terror factions enjoy Tehran’s nonstop political and financial support.
In an attempt to justify the change, Sameyah released an unusually long explanation, focusing on the sacred significance of the color blue in Judaism—invoking tzitzit and ancient traditions—only to accuse Israel of “abusing Jewish teachings.” The claim echoes the regime’s broader propaganda line, which attempts to separate Judaism from Israel while promoting Gaza’s extremist groups as Iranian proxies.
Sameyah insisted that the Jewish Association of Tehran is aware of blue’s deep religious roots, but argued that to avoid any impression of sympathy for Israel, the messaging would now exclusively feature Iranian flag colors.
For years, Sameyah has been known as a vocal opponent of Israel, frequently amplifying Tehran’s anti-Israel rhetoric and even encouraging Iranian attacks on the Jewish state. He previously organized “humanitarian shipments” from the Jewish community to Gaza—moves widely viewed as regime-directed publicity stunts designed to mask Iran’s role in empowering Hamas and other Palestinian terror groups.
The latest symbolic capitulation is another reminder of how Iran weaponizes the Jewish minority for propaganda—demanding displays of loyalty while criminalizing any connection, cultural or religious, that might be interpreted as support for Israel.
