Israel’s military success reshapes battlefield reality, weakening Hezbollah while exposing failures of hostile regional actors.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the IDF senior command on Monday, delivering a comprehensive strategic overview of the ongoing war while emphasizing Israel’s growing dominance across multiple fronts.
Opening his remarks, Netanyahu praised IDF commanders and soldiers for their exceptional performance across air, sea, and ground operations, highlighting their decisive role in shifting the regional balance of power.
Focusing on Lebanon, he outlined what he described as significant achievements against Hezbollah, including the dismantling of major rocket infrastructure that once threatened large parts of Israel. He pointed to the establishment of a security zone that not only blocks infiltration attempts into northern Israel but also reduces the threat of direct anti-tank attacks.
Netanyahu made clear that Israel’s operational reach is not confined to border areas, noting that the IDF continues to act beyond the security zone and even north of the Litani River. He stressed that Israel maintains full freedom of action to neutralize both immediate and emerging threats, backed by understandings with the United States and the Lebanese government.
Despite these gains, Netanyahu acknowledged that challenges remain. He identified two primary threats still posed by Hezbollah: short-range rockets and unmanned aerial systems. Addressing these, he emphasized the need for a combined operational and technological approach, noting that significant efforts are already underway to counter these risks.
He revealed that Hezbollah’s arsenal has been drastically reduced, estimating that the group now retains only about 10% of its original missile capacity. However, he cautioned that even this reduced capability continues to impact northern Israeli communities, whose resilience he praised.
Concluding his address, Netanyahu issued a clear directive to IDF leadership, stressing that resolving the remaining threats is essential not only for military success but also for enabling diplomatic progress. His message underscored Israel’s strategy of combining strength on the battlefield with leverage in negotiations.
