Trump Declares Iran War Over As Tehran Defies Blockade And Israel Watches Ceasefire Crumble Again

Washington says the Iran war has ended, but Tehran’s missiles, drones, and Hormuz chokehold tell another story.

The Trump administration is insisting that the war with Iran effectively ended when an early-April ceasefire took hold, a position that could help the White House avoid seeking fresh congressional authorization. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth reinforced that argument during Senate testimony, saying the ceasefire had paused active hostilities.

Yet the region remains tense. Iran continues to restrict movement through the Strait of Hormuz, while the U.S. Navy maintains a blockade aimed at stopping Iranian oil tankers from reaching open waters. In Tehran, air defences were activated Thursday night against suspected drones and small aircraft.

Meanwhile, Lebanon’s fragile ceasefire is also under strain, with Washington urging direct Israeli-Lebanese talks after deadly strikes in southern Lebanon. Iran’s supreme leader further escalated rhetoric by vowing to protect Tehran’s nuclear and missile programs despite U.S. pressure and Israeli security concerns.
