Tehran remains dangerous but America and Israel continue systematically weakening Iran’s military and economic survival capabilities across region..
A confidential CIA assessment presented to senior US administration officials this week concluded that Iran may be able to withstand the ongoing American naval blockade for up to four months before facing truly devastating economic consequences, according to a report by the Washington Post.
The intelligence analysis reportedly found that despite weeks of coordinated American and Israeli military operations, Iran still retains a substantial portion of its ballistic missile infrastructure and weapons stockpile.
According to one US official cited in the report, Tehran continues to possess nearly 75 percent of its prewar mobile missile launchers and roughly 70 percent of its ballistic missile inventory. The official also stated that Iran has managed to restore access to many underground weapons storage facilities, repair damaged missiles, and complete the assembly of additional missiles that were already close to deployment before the war intensified.
The findings appear more cautious than recent public statements made by President Donald Trump, who declared on Wednesday that Iran’s missile arsenal had been “mostly decimated” by ongoing military pressure from the United States and Israel.
Four current and former US officials reportedly confirmed the broad conclusions of the intelligence report while speaking anonymously due to the classified nature of the assessment.
Despite the warning about Iran’s remaining military capabilities, senior American intelligence officials stressed that the US-led blockade is inflicting severe economic damage on the Iranian regime. Officials stated that Tehran’s trade routes, oil revenues, and government finances are being steadily crippled while military infrastructure continues to degrade under sustained pressure.
The blockade was intensified after negotiations between Washington and Tehran collapsed, leading the United States to tighten restrictions on Iranian ports and energy exports.
Iran’s economy has already been battered by years of sanctions, soaring inflation, internal instability, and the ongoing conflict. However, according to the CIA analysis, the regime could potentially survive the blockade for approximately 90 to 120 days before entering a far more dangerous economic phase.
Officials familiar with the assessment said Iran has been forced to store large quantities of unsold oil aboard tankers stranded at sea because the blockade prevents exports. Tehran has also reportedly reduced oil production to avoid long-term damage to critical energy infrastructure.
American intelligence agencies additionally believe Iran may attempt to bypass the blockade by expanding overland oil transport routes through Central Asia in an effort to maintain limited export capabilities.
The report further warned that Iran continues to maintain a significant missile and drone arsenal despite heavy losses during the conflict. Before the war, Tehran was believed to possess approximately 2,500 ballistic missiles along with thousands of drones used to threaten Israel, Gulf states, and international shipping lanes.
US officials also cautioned that Iran’s ability to resume large-scale ballistic missile production may recover faster than initially expected, underscoring the continued threat posed by the regime despite ongoing military setbacks.
