Israel’s Eurovision Triumph Defies Boycott Pressure As Noam Bettan Returns Home To National Unity

Bettan’s runner-up victory becomes cultural resistance, proving Israel’s voice cannot be silenced abroad.

Singer Noam Bettan and the Kan Eurovision delegation returned to Ben Gurion Airport after securing second place at Eurovision 2026 in Vienna, marking Israel’s second consecutive runner-up finish in the competition. His arrival quickly became more than a musical homecoming; it turned into a powerful national moment of pride, unity, and resilience.

Speaking at the airport, Bettan thanked the public and said the experience created a deep feeling of togetherness across Israel. He urged Israelis to carry that spirit beyond moments of national excitement and into everyday life, asking people to show kindness, patience, and goodwill toward one another.

Kan CEO Golan Yochpaz said Israel’s participation had nearly been blocked, warning that exclusion from Eurovision could have encouraged wider cultural and sporting boycotts. Instead, Israel fought its way back onto the European stage and delivered a stunning performance.

Director Yoav Tzafir praised Bettan’s perseverance, calling his journey from rejection to Eurovision success an inspiration.
