Jabareen signals readiness for Ra’am compromise as Arab factions seek turnout surge and coalition influence”
Hadash chairman Yousef Jabareen expressed optimism over efforts to form a joint Arab Knesset ticket ahead of the elections, saying talks are progressing toward a broad alliance.
Hadash, Ta’al and Balad have already agreed to run together and have invited Ra’am to join the slate. Jabareen said the three parties are united around a shared political platform and a common goal: preventing a right-wing victory.
Speaking to Hala TV, Jabareen said the alliance is ready to negotiate terms with Ra’am. These include keeping the Joint List as a technical election bloc, respecting political pluralism and postponing the division of roles until after the vote.
The proposal would also leave room for Ra’am to join a center-left coalition after the election, even if it runs together with the other Arab factions during the campaign.
Jabareen said Arab voters strongly support unity and that the goal is to raise turnout and win at least 15 Knesset seats. He added that decisive talks with Ra’am are expected next weekend and said he does not believe the remaining gaps are impossible to bridge.
The unresolved issues include who will lead the list, the candidate order, each party’s share of seats and how the campaign will be managed.
Jabareen also accepted Ra’am’s position that it may break away after the election depending on the political situation. He warned that no more than two Arab slates should run, to avoid wasting votes.
The negotiations reveal a clear political strategy: unite Arab parties before the election, maximize parliamentary strength and use coalition leverage to influence Israel’s next government.
