Grieving Israeli parents confront Tibi, exposing deep national pain over justice for Hamas massacre victims..
An emotional confrontation erupted in the Knesset on Monday after bereaved families disrupted MK Ahmad Tibi while he voiced his objection in Arabic to a proposed law aimed at bringing the Nukhba terrorists responsible for the October 7 massacre to justice.
The families, seated in the press gallery and led by Itzik Bonzel, whose son Amit fell in battle in Gaza, shouted angrily at Tibi during the session. Bonzel demanded to know what objections Tibi could possibly have to punishing those involved in the murder of Israeli civilians and soldiers, calling his position shameful.
Knesset Deputy Speaker MK Meir Cohen, who was chairing the session, asked the families to remain silent, but tensions quickly escalated. Tibi responded by saying that even bereaved families must follow Knesset regulations and accused them of slandering him from the gallery. He also noted that he is a bereaved family member himself.
The exchange intensified when Tibi accused Bonzel of acting politically because of upcoming elections. Cohen then demanded that Tibi stop attacking the grieving families, as chants of “murderer” continued from the gallery.
After several tense minutes, Cohen declared a short recess to restore order. The incident reflected Israel’s raw national trauma and the deep public demand for justice against the terrorists behind the October 7 atrocities.
