Jerusalem Day Celebration Unites Yeshiva Students in Torah, Faith, Heritage, and National Resolve Across Jerusalem

Yeshivat HaKotel marks Jerusalem Day with powerful learning, prayer, unity, and renewed devotion to Israel.

Yeshivat HaKotel in Jerusalem is hosting a major Jerusalem Day celebration tonight, marking the 59th year since the reunification of Israel’s eternal capital. Held under the title “A Festival of Jerusalem,” the gathering brings together rabbis, public figures, Hesder yeshiva students, and supporters of Torah learning from across the country.

Organized in cooperation with the Hesder Yeshivot Association, Jerusalem Municipality, and the Department for the Heritage of Israel, the evening opened with a moving ascent to the yeshiva rooftop, offering participants a powerful view over Jerusalem. Rabbi Gadi Shalvi led the opening reflection, followed by a special Jerusalem Day lecture from Rabbi Baruch Wieder, head of Yeshivat HaKotel.

Hundreds of students later joined psalms of thanksgiving and festive prayers in the study hall, led by yeshiva graduate Rabbi Aviel Elimelech. The night’s central program includes Torah study sessions with leading Religious Zionist rabbis, including the Chief Rabbi of Israel, continuing until dawn with Rabbi Elikim Levanon, Rabbi Tzvi Kostiner, and Rabbi Raam HaCohen.

The celebration will conclude with a festive morning prayer at the Western Wall plaza, symbolizing the living bond between Torah, Jerusalem, and the destiny of the Jewish people.

Rabbi Wieder said Jerusalem Day invites reflection on Israel’s return to the heart of the nation. Uri Pinski of the Hesder Yeshivot Association added that this year’s celebration carries deeper meaning amid war, reminding Israel what it stands for: the people, Torah, land, and Jerusalem.
