Rabbi Yishai Por, 52, was murdered Wednesday while studying Torah inside a synagogue on Maharshal Street in Bnei Brak, in a shocking attack that horrified worshippers and rescue crews.

According to eyewitnesses, the assailant, reportedly believed to be mentally unstable, entered the synagogue, pulled out a sharp object, and stabbed Rabbi Por several times in front of his son.

Emergency medical teams rushed to the scene and found the victim critically wounded. They evacuated him to the hospital while performing CPR, but despite an hour-long battle by doctors to save his life, he was pronounced dead.
