Judges expose deadly weapons pipeline that armed terrorist Uday Tamimi and endangered Israeli security forces”
The Jerusalem District Court sentenced terrorist Fadi Shweiki to 50 months in prison on Wednesday after convicting him of serious weapons offenses linked to the deadly Shuafat checkpoint attack.
Shweiki was found guilty of helping sell the handgun used by terrorist Uday Tamimi in the October 2022 shooting attack at the Shuafat checkpoint. IDF soldier Noa Lazar was killed in the attack, and additional security guards were wounded.
The same weapon was later used by Tamimi in an attempted attack at the entrance to Ma’ale Adumim two weeks later, where he was eliminated by Israeli security forces.
The court fully accepted the evidence presented by the Jerusalem District Prosecutor’s Office. Judges ruled that Shweiki was not a casual intermediary, but an active and aware partner in the weapon’s purchase, financing, possession and final sale to the terrorist.
He was convicted of multiple offenses, including possession of weapons and weapon accessories, illegal acquisition of weapons and arms trafficking.
During sentencing, prosecutors warned that Israel’s illegal weapons market has become a national scourge, feeding violent crime and nationalist terror. They stressed that this case showed the danger in its deadliest form, with an illegal firearm moving through criminal hands until it was used in a terror attack that murdered an Israeli soldier.
The ruling sends a clear message: those who arm terrorists are part of the terror chain and must face serious punishment.
